Here, the clay and sandy soils store water during the rainy spring, which is then released during the vines' growth period, helping them through the dry summers. The chilly breezes from the Atlantic Ocean provide cool nights which improve the lovely fruity flavours and freshness in the wine.
Vinification Details - The winemaking process is led carefully in order to best respect the integrity of the berries and preserve the delicate perfumes of the variety. The grapes first undergo a 6-hour skin contact maceration, extracting as much of the fruity aromas as possible. After a gentle pressing, the must in meticulously cold settled. The fermentation is then led at a cold temperature. A three-month ageing on its fine lees gives the wine its great smoothness.

Wine Colour
Colour - White

Lower Age Limit
Statutory - Years - 18

Storage Type
Ambient

Recommended Storage
Storage Type - This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to <>

Country of Origin - France

Safety Statements
Pregnancy Warning - Pregnancy Warning

Origin
Product of France

Company Name
Dunnes Stores

Company Address
Ireland.

Return To
Dunnes Stores,
Ireland.

The area is strongly influenced by the Mediterranean Sea (only 30 km away).
Producer - L'union des vignerons F34360
Regional Information - The soil types alternate between sandstone and stony terraces with limestone sub-soils. Here, the vineyards are shaped by the winds that flow in between the Pyrenees and the Black Mountain. Here, the vineyards are shaped by the winds that flow in between the Pyrenees and the Black Mountain. These winds are very useful for the winemaker as they protect the vines from disease and blow a cool breeze through the vineyards during summer, particularly in the early morning.
Vinification Details - The grapes are harvested separately in the early morning. They are pressed as soon as they reach the cellar to enhance the freshness of the wine as well as to avoid oxidation. Both varieties are fermented separately in order to develop their specific characteristics. Fermentation happens in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to keep as much fruit as possible. Codex IGP Côtes de Gascogne 75cl, €8.40

Further Description
Winemaking:
All the grapes are harvested at night when the temperatures are low to avoid oxidation. Then, they undergo a modern winemaking process. After a 24-hour skin contact maceration, at 6°C, only the premium juices are selected. Marilyn chose to assemble the freshness of Sauvignon (60%), the powerful aromas of Colombard (20%) and the complexity of Gros Manseng (20%) to create a wine with a long and silky finish. The juices ferment at a low temperature. The intense fruit aromas come from the specific method used to extract all of the fruity flavors from the big lees. During 20 days they are kept at a 0-2°C temperature, before they are filtered again for fermentation. The resulting wine is matured on its fine lees until bottling.

Sourcing information:
The landscapes of Gascony spread from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pyrenees, providing fascinating Terroirs. Southern French sun-kissed days promote ripe grapes packed full of sunshine. On the other hand, the Atlantic brings chilly ocean breezes and cool nights which improves the lovely fruity aromas. The clay and sand soils store water during the rainy spring which is then released when the vines grow, enabling them to get through the dry summers.

Features
Wine of France

Pack Size
75cl ℮

Allergy Advice
Sulphur Dioxide/Sulphites - Contains

General Alcohol Data
Alcohol By Volume - 11.5
Serving Suggestion - Enjoy chilled as an aperitif or with Caesar salad, curries or seafood…
Units - 8.63

Wine Alcohol Data
Current Vintage - 2019
Producer - L'Union des Vignerons

Wine Colour
Colour - White

Storage Type
Ambient

Storage
Keep at room temperature up to one year

Preparation and Usage
Enjoy chilled as an aperitif or with Caesar salad, curries or seafood…

Country of Origin - France

Origin
Wine of France

Return To
Dunnes Stores
