The Bend in the River takes its name from the majestic River Rhine at the beginning of the beautiful gorge section of the middle Rhine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At this point it meanders its thoughtful way past the small town of Bingen, the home of The Bend in the River.
Producer - Reh Kendermann GmbH
Regional Information - The grapes for this wine are grown in the Rubicone area, located in the north of Italy and part of the famous Emiglia Romagna. The mediterranean climate with warm and sunny days provides perfect ripening conditions for the Pinot Grigio grapes, while the Fresh breeze from the adriatic sea brings cool nights for the typical fresh and lively character of the wine.
Vinification Details - The grapes were harvested from mid-September onwards at optimum ripeness. They were then pressed gently, cooled down to 5°C and the heavier matter was allowed to settle naturally, leaving behind a clean juice with enhanced fruit definition. The juice was then fermented at low temperatures of 14-16°C / 57-61°F for approximately 3 weeks in stainless steel. The wine was kept on the fine lees for the remaining time before bottling, thereby gaining texture and a balanced palate.
Winemaker - Steffan Haub

Wine Colour
Colour - White

Storage Type
Ambient

Recommended Storage
Storage Type - To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within <> of purchase.

Safety Statements
Pregnancy Warning

Origin
Wine of Italy

Country
Country of Origin - Italy

Company Name
Reh Kendermann GmbH

Company Address
Weinkellerei,
D-55411 Bingen,
Germany.

Return To
Reh Kendermann GmbH,
Weinkellerei,
D-55411 Bingen,
Germany.

The slate soils also play an important role in that they absorb the heat of the day and give it back to the vines at night, thereby aiding ripening. Due to the steepness of the slopes, all the work in the vineyards, including the harvest, has to be done by hand.
Vinification Details - The grapes are picked by hand in late September and gently pressed before a long, cool fermentation with selected yeasts in stainless steel for up to three weeks. The wine remains on the fine lees without stirring for a further 4-5 months to gain additional weight and structure.
Winemaker - Philipp Closheim

Wine Colour
Colour - White

Storage Type
Ambient

Recommended Storage
Storage Type - To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within <> of purchase.

Safety Statements
Pregnancy Warning

Origin
Product of Germany

Country
Country of Origin - Germany

Company Name
Reh Kendermann GmbH

Company Address
Weinkellerei,
D-15411 Bingen.

Return To
Reh Kendermann GmbH,
Weinkellerei,
D-15411 Bingen.

Sauvignon Blanc has only been allowed to be grown in Germany for the last 20 years but it has adapted very well to Germany's cool climate.
Producer - Reh Kendermann GmbH
Regional Information - The Pfalz is one of Germany's key wine-producing regions and is situated in the south-west, across the border from Alsace. The weather here is generally sunny and dry, as the vineyards are in the lee of the Haardt Mountains. The limestone soil is 20-25 million years old resulting from ancient sea sedimentations. This relatively thin and porous soil allows the vines to root deeply giving ideal growing conditions for the grapes and resulting in elegant and varietally typical Sauvignon Blanc wines.
Vinification Details - The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested early in the morning and protected with carbonic ice before being swiftly and very gently pressed. Fermentation is carried out reductively at cool temperatures with selected yeasts in order to maximize fruit flavours and freshness. The wine remains on the fine lees for 4-5 months in order to gain a little weight and complexity.
Winemaker - Christoph Knewitz

Wine Colour
Colour - White

Storage Type
Ambient

Recommended Storage
Storage Type - To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within <> of purchase.

Safety Statements
Pregnancy Warning

Origin
Product of Germany

Country
Country of Origin - Germany

Company Name
Reh Kendermann Gmbh Weinkellerei

Company Address
D-55411 Bingen.

Return To
Reh Kendermann Gmbh Weinkellerei,
D-55411 Bingen.
