20ml triple sec, or Cointreau
10–15ml agave syrup, to taste
2–4 thin slices fresh green chilli, plus extra to garnish
Directions

INGREDIENTS

  • 50ml Olmeca Tequila Reposada
  • 25ml fresh lime juice, plus lime wedges to serve
  • 20ml triple sec, or Cointreau
  • 10–15ml agave syrup, to taste

  • Ice

To garnish

  • 2 tbsp coarse sea salt
  • 1–2 tsp chilli powder

METHOD

  1. On a flat plate big enough to fit the rim of your glasses, mix the salt and chilli powder.
  2. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into the chilli salt mix and set aside.
  3. Now, in the bottom of a cocktail shaker gently muddle the chilli slices with the agave syrup a couple of times – don’t muddle too much or your margarita will be too spicy!
  4. Pour in the tequila, lime juice, and triple sec, add ice and shake for a minute to chill.
  5. Strain into your prepared glass over fresh ice and garnish with a lime wedge and a few extra slices of chilli.
