Ingredients
150g Dunnes Stores Irish porridge oats
150g plain flour and 1 tbsp plain flour for the filling
175g light brown sugar
200g butter, cold and cut into pieces
Pinch of salt
6 Dunnes Stores Irish cooking apples, peeled, cored & sliced
60g brown sugar
Juice of ½ lemon
1 tub fresh custard, to serve

For the Crumble:

  • 150g Dunnes Stores Irish Porridge Oats
  • 150g Plain Flour
  • 175g Light Brown Sugar
  • 200g Butter, cold and cut into pieces
  • Pinch of Salt

For the Filling:

  • 6 Dunnes Stores Irish Cooking Apples, peeled, cored & sliced
  • 1 Tbsp Plain Flour
  • 60g Brown Sugar
  • Juice of ½ Lemon
  • 1 Tub Fresh Custard, to serve

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C / 170°C fan / 375°F / Gas Mark 5.
  2. Place the flour, oats, brown sugar, and butter in a large bowl. Using your fingertips, rub the ingredients together until the mixture resembles chunky breadcrumbs.
  3. In a large baking tin, toss the apples with the flour, sugar, and lemon juice until combined. Spread the crumble mixture evenly over the filling.
  4. Bake in the oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the crumble topping is golden brown and the fruit is soft and bubbling beneath.
  5. Spoon into bowls and serve with hot fresh custard.
