The slate soils also play an important role in that they absorb the heat of the day and give it back to the vines at night, thereby aiding ripening. Due to the steepness of the slopes, all the work in the vineyards, including the harvest, has to be done by hand.
Vinification Details - The grapes are picked by hand in late September and gently pressed before a long, cool fermentation with selected yeasts in stainless steel for up to three weeks. The wine remains on the fine lees without stirring for a further 4-5 months to gain additional weight and structure.
Winemaker - Philipp Closheim

Wine Colour
Colour - White

Storage Type
Ambient

Recommended Storage
Storage Type - To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within <> of purchase.

Safety Statements
Pregnancy Warning

Origin
Product of Germany

Country
Country of Origin - Germany

Company Name
Reh Kendermann GmbH

Company Address
Weinkellerei,
D-15411 Bingen.

Return To
Reh Kendermann GmbH,
Weinkellerei,
D-15411 Bingen.

The Weinhaus range of wines are a clear commitment to individuality and origin, handcrafted at the highest level. Our "soil ambassadors" literally let you experience the taste of millions of years of history in the glass.
Producer - Reh Kendermann GmbH
Regional Information - This wine comes from the Pfalz, one of Germany's key wine-producing regions, situated in the southwest, across the border from Alsace. The weather here is generally dry and sunny as the Pfalz wine region lies in the rain shadow of the mountains. The vineyards for this rosé are located in the north of the Pfalz and are in a valley basin, making it a cool area because of the fog and thermal currents. This cool climate, together with the limestone soils, makes for lean, long-lived wines.
Vinification Details - This wine is produced by the classic rosé method. The grapes are picked in the early hours of the morning when temperatures are cool. The grapes are pressed very gently for about three hours with skin contact to give a delicate tinge of pink. Winemaking is reductive at around 16 degrees C for c. 3 weeks with specially selected yeasts to enhance the fresh and fruity flavours. The wine then spends several months on the fine lees to gain weight and complexity before being bottled.
Winemaker - Christoph Knewitz

Storage Type
Ambient

Recommended Storage
Storage Type - To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within <> of purchase.

Safety Statements
Pregnancy Warning

Origin
Product of Germany

Country
Country of Origin - Germany

Company Name
Reh Kendermann Gmbh

Company Address
Weinkellerei,
D-55411 Bingen.

Return To
Reh Kendermann Gmbh,
Weinkellerei,
D-55411 Bingen.

Sauvignon Blanc has only been allowed to be grown in Germany for the last 20 years but it has adapted very well to Germany's cool climate.
Producer - Reh Kendermann GmbH
Regional Information - The Pfalz is one of Germany's key wine-producing regions and is situated in the south-west, across the border from Alsace. The weather here is generally sunny and dry, as the vineyards are in the lee of the Haardt Mountains. The limestone soil is 20-25 million years old resulting from ancient sea sedimentations. This relatively thin and porous soil allows the vines to root deeply giving ideal growing conditions for the grapes and resulting in elegant and varietally typical Sauvignon Blanc wines.
Vinification Details - The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested early in the morning and protected with carbonic ice before being swiftly and very gently pressed. Fermentation is carried out reductively at cool temperatures with selected yeasts in order to maximize fruit flavours and freshness. The wine remains on the fine lees for 4-5 months in order to gain a little weight and complexity.
Winemaker - Christoph Knewitz

Wine Colour
Colour - White

Storage Type
Ambient

Recommended Storage
Storage Type - To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within <> of purchase.

Safety Statements
Pregnancy Warning

Origin
Product of Germany

Country
Country of Origin - Germany

Company Name
Reh Kendermann Gmbh Weinkellerei

Company Address
D-55411 Bingen.

Return To
Reh Kendermann Gmbh Weinkellerei,
D-55411 Bingen.
