This quintessential Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is packed full of<br/> fresh passionfruit, tropical and citrus flavours.<br/>Producer - Rapaura Springs<br/>Regional Information - Marlborough&#x27;s ancient glacial deep, free-draining, stony soils and unique maritime climate create a grape growing paradise. The fruit from this wine is grown across Marlborough&#x27;s major sub-regions, the Wairau Valley, Southern Valleys and Awatere Valley. Each vineyard site provides unique flavours and aromatics, underpinned by vibrant acidity.<br/>Vinification Details - The 2023 growing season started with above average bunch numbers in most districts in Marlborough. Unsettled and cooler weather over flowering resulted in loose and lighter bunches, with the net effect of producing average yields across most varieties and regions. The weather around the time of veraison was unstable, and at times threatening. We just missed out on the destruction of the cyclone that hit the east coast of the North Island. The weather then settled into a pattern reminiscent of the harvests in the early 2000s. The nights were particularly cool, and this helped to arrest any small levels of botrytis that had started in the early unsettled weather. It was a vintage where patience was rewarded and those who waited harvested fully ripe grapes with concentrated flavours and classic acidity. The climate is hot with high evaporation rates &amp; generally low rainfall making irrigation essential. The climate is also continental, resulting in long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. Modern viticultural &amp; winemaking techniques mean that the climate can be seen as one of the region&#x27;s strengths.<br/>Vinification Details - The fruit was crushed, de-stemmed and immediately clarified. Fermentation followed after inoculating with selected yeast strains. Fermentation was carried out at cool temperature to preserve the fruit flavours. Fermentation lasted for 2 weeks.
