History - Stronghold of Montauban, Dauphins, princes of Orange and Urre, Vinsobres is first occupied by the Romans.
Previously classified Côtes du Rhône Villages, red wine Vinsobres, became in 2006 the first local name of Côtes -du-Rhône in the Drôme Provençale.
These wines are in the Premiere division of the wine world and have the right to use the term "Cru" on their labels.
Producer - UNION DES VIGNERONS DES COTES DU RHONE
Regional Information - The Rhône valley is a diverse and interesting wine region, stretching some 200 kms from Lyon down to Avignon. There are three quality levels, Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages and the highest level Cru des Côtes du Rhône. The village of Vinsobres was very recently promoted to Cru in 2006 and joins only 16 other Cru villages internationally known for their outstanding quality.
Vinification Details - Some destemming take place prior fermentation in stainless steel tank. It last for 10 to 12 days with continuing pumping over.
Temperature controlled: between 25 to 30°C.
Harvest: 50 % hand harvest and half mechanical harvest, September 15th to beginning October.
