Aptamil® Comfort is a food for special medical purposes for the dietary management of colic and constipation. It should only be used under medical supervision, after full consideration of the feeding options available including breastfeeding. Suitable for use as the sole source of nutrition for infants from birth and as part of a balanced diet from 6-12 months. For enteral use only.
When bottle feeding do not allow prolonged or frequent contact of milk feeds with your baby's teeth as this increases the risk of tooth decay. Ask your healthcare professional or dentist for advice. Make sure your baby's teeth are cleaned after the last feed at night.

Storage Type
Ambient

Storage
- Store powder in a cool, dry place.
- Do not refrigerate.
- Use powder within 4 weeks of opening.

Preparation and Usage
Food for Special Medical Purposes
Ask for advice from your healthcare professional before use

Feeding Guide
Aptamil® Comfort has a thicker texture than most other milks to help prevent your baby taking in too much air during
feeding. This information is given as a guide only. Consult your healthcare professional if you require more advice.
Important: Always use the scoop provided, please note the colour of the scoop in this pack may change from time to time.
All babies are different, but it can take up to 2-3 weeks to notice a difference. If used for this time and you see no difference, we recommend you talk to your healthcare professional.

How to use this pack
To open, remove tamper evidence strip on the rim of the pack.
There is a handy leveller built into the pack. Store your scoop in the lid so that it is kept safe and secure.
Click the lid securely shut to keep your powder fresh.

Preparing your baby's feed
Because powdered milks are not sterile, failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill.
1 Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions.
2 Boil 1 litre of freshly run water. Leave kettle to cool for 30 minutes and no longer. Measure the required amount of water (refer to feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
3 Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built in leveller. Do not press/heap the powder.
4 Add the correct measure of powder to the water. Adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful. Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake immediately, vertically and vigorously for at least 10 seconds, until the powder is dissolved.
5 Cool under running tap. Check temperature of feed. Feed immediately. Due to the blend of ingredients in Aptamil® Comfort, the formula can separate once prepared. If this occurs, shake the bottle vigorously to mix and use as normal. You may notice that your baby's stools change consistency when using this formula, this is completely normal.

Important feeding and storage advice
- Make up each feed as required.
- For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds, discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible, and always within 2 hours.
- Do not heat feeds in a microwave, hot spots may occur and cause scalding.
- Never add extra scoops or anything else to your baby's feed.
- Never leave your baby alone during feeding.
- If necessary, offer cooled boiled water between feeds.

If you are concerned that your baby has colic or constipation you should speak to your healthcare professional.

Moving to the next stage
If you think your little one is ready to move on from Aptamil® Comfort, speak to a healthcare professional about the most suitable milk for your baby.

Country of Origin - Produce of the EU

Origin
Manufactured in the EU

Company Name
Nutricia Ltd / Nutricia Ireland Ltd,

Company Address
Nutricia Ltd,
White Horse Business Park,
Trowbridge,
Wiltshire,
BA14 0XQ.

Nutricia Ireland Ltd,
Block 1,
Deansgrange Business Park,
Deansgrange,
Co. When ready, pour the right amount of water into a sterilised bottle as per the feeding guide.
Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly bolled water.
Powder: Using the scoop, add the powder to the water, as per the feeding guide. To make sure the right amount of powder is added, use the leveller on the inside of the box to level off the scoops. Don't press or heap the powder as adding too much or too little formula could make your baby ill.
Shake: Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake straight away. For best results, shake vertically and vigorously for at least 10 seconds, until all of the powder is dissolved.
Cool the bottle by placing under a cold running tap or in a bowl of cold water, and check the temperature by placing a few drops on the inside of your wrist. The formula should feel lukewarm, but not hot. If possible, we'd recommend starting the feed straight away and always finishing within 2 hours.

Important feeding and storage advice
Make up each feed as required.
For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds, discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible, and always within 2 hours.
Do not heat feeds in a microwave, hot spots may occur and cause scalding.
Never add extra scoops or anything else to your baby's feed.
Never leave your baby alone during feeding.

Country of Origin - Produce of the EU

Origin
Manufactured in the E.U.

Company Name
Nutricia Ltd / Nutricia Ireland Ltd

Company Address
Nutricia Ltd,
White Horse Business Park,
Trowbridge,
Wiltshire,
BA14 0XQ.

Nutricia Ireland Ltd,
Block 1,
Deansgrange Business Park,
Deansgrange,
Co. Failure to follow instructions on preparation and storage may make your baby ill.
1 Pull the safety seal and open the lid. The scoop is provided under the lid. Lift the tab, pull on the foil seal, carefully and safely remove the seal and dispose of it.
2 Wash hands well. Wash and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions.
3 Boil 1 litre of fresh tap water. Allow boiled water to cool for no more than 30 minutes. Measure the required amount of water (see feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle, carefully - the water is hot. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
4 Using only the scoop provided, add the correct number of scoops of powder (see feeding guide), levelling off each scoop with the back of a clean dry knife. Store the scoop in suspension inside the can and replace lid.
5 Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake well until powder is fully dissolved. Cool bottle under cold running water or in a bowl or jug of cold water until lukewarm, do not immerse the teat. Test temperature by shaking a few drops onto the inside of your wrist.
Thicker formula, may require a fast flow teat.
Do not use with other food thickeners or antacids.

Important Feeding Information
- Do not add extra powder or water to make feeds stronger or weaker and do not press powder into scoop. Using too much or too little powder can make your baby ill.
- We recommend preparing each feed in individual bottles when required.
- For hygienic reasons, discard unfinished feed in the bottle as soon as possible.
- For older babies, made-up formulae can be added to food but not heated.
- For enteral use only.
- Do not alter or add to formulae unless medically directed.
- Do not warm feeds in a microwave as it will cause milk to thicken, and hot spots may occur and cause scalding.
- Remember, cows' milk should not be used as a drink during the first year.

Origin
Produced in Europe

Company Name
SMA® Nutrition

Company Address
1 City Place,
Gatwick,
RH6 0PA.

In Republic of Ireland:
3030 Lake Drive,
Citywest Business Campus,
Dublin 24.

Durability after Opening
Consume Within - Weeks - 4

Telephone Helpline
UK 0800 081 81 80
ROI 1800 931 832

Web Address
www.smababy.co.uk
www.smababy.ie

Return To
SMA® Comfort Formula
Guarantee: This product should reach you in perfect condition. Use within 4 weeks of opening.

Preparation and Usage
How to Open and Prepare Your Baby's Feed
Whilst this product is made under strict hygienic conditions, it is not sterile. Failure to follow instructions on preparation and storage may make your baby ill.
1 Pull the safety seal and open the lid. The scoop is provided under the lid. Lift the tab, pull on the foil seal carefully and safely remove the seal and dispose of it.
2 Wash hands well. Wash and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers instructions.
3 Boil 1 litre of fresh tap water. Allow boiled water to cool for no more than 30 minutes. Measure the required amount of water (see feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle, carefully - the water is hot. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
4 Using only the scoop provided, add the correct number of scoops of powder (see feeding guide), levelling off each scoop with the back of a clean, dry knife. Store the scoop in suspension inside the can and replace lid.
5 Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and immediately shake vigorously until the powder is fully dissolved. Cool bottle under cold running water or in a bowl or jug of cool water until lukewarm, do not immerse the teat. Test temperature by shaking a few drops onto the inside of your wrist. Upon preparation there may be a noticeable foam, this is quite normal.

- For older babies, made-up formulae can be added to food.
- For enteral use only.
- Do not alter or add to formulae unless medically directed.
- Do not warm feeds in microwave, hot spots may occur and cause scalding.
- Remember, cows' milk should not be used as a drink during the first year.

Feeding Guide Birth - 12 Months
Approx. If the baby's reflux does not improve within 2 weeks of starting SMA® Anti-Reflux, or if the baby fails to thrive, the family doctor should be consulted.
